One of my flats has signs of mice in the kitchen. It is on the 4th floor (top) of a modern block which suggests that other flats have issues too. The management company say its my problem as nobody else has complained. I am not happy with this, I am going to put signs up so that others will look for signs and may report it but is there anything that i can do to legally compel the management company to do something about it? I live in an area where field mice are rife and you can see them in the gardens of the ground floor flats when you look down from the balcony.

Help!!!

Apart from putting poison down regularly, there's not much the MC can do really. We're in an area where they're rife too - fields, barns, orchard. I've managed to stop them getting in the loft by cutting down wall climbing plants. So there's you're first step. Next is find where they're actually coming in, i.e. vents, holes in brickwork etc. and plug these up. Get rid of any composting bins. These are mice-hotels! Warm, and full of food. Since I've stopped composting, there's fewer mice around. Bird feeders will also attract mice. Birds are messy eaters, so seeds will end up on the floor.

I now have several traps around the house. I catch a few over the summer, but as soon as the crops are harvested, they're in. Then I can catch 5 a week. It happens every year. They're not going to go away, just have to deal with it.

From the forth floor! They're either big field mice or you've got exceptional eyesight biggrin

Generally speaking rodent infestation are the leessees problem - until they spread. Then it's the problem of who started it.

It would seem odd for them to make such an effort to get to the 4th floor so I suggest you have a very deep clean and check for entry points / nests.

They are brown and the paving stones in the ground floor garden flats are an off white
