Hi all, I'll be travelling to Toronto at the end of October until early November, now I'm after some ideas of what to do, going with parents and younger sister - 11yrs old, thinking of hiring a car when at Toronto and travelling within say 200 miles of Toronto, so far all that's planned is spend a couple of days in Toronto, and then head down to niagara falls for a couple more days, and then maybe into the USA, new York state probably.
So does anyone have any bright ideas of places to go and things to do within a few hours drive of Toronto at the end of October, early November.
Would really appreciate your input.
Thankyou.

Niagara is great to see. We spent one night there which was plenty. You only need a few hours to see the falls and do any activities around them. It's very touristy. We went to Huntsville and spent a day in the Algonquin National park. There is loads of great scenery, walking trials etc.
Toronto was probably our favourite city in eastern canada, plenty to do....cn tower is cool, and take a trip over to Toronto island for a chill out day in the park.

Yeah I've heard recently niagara is very commercial now, think the plan at the moment is spend a day in Toronto then down to niagara for 2 days, over the border, maybe Rochester if anything to do around there and then head to NYC, spend a night just before somewhere, 2 days in NYC, then up to Albany, maybe adirondack state park , and then to Kingston on the eastern coast of lake ontArio and back to Toronto for the last day again. Did you head into the USA? Could do with some inspiration for what to do between niagara and NYC and then from NYC to lake Ontario again.
Thanks

No, didn't go into the US, we headed east up to Quebec. I would suggest a day or two extra in Toronto, there is plenty to do. Although parking in cities is pricey.

Don't forget the Americans will hit you for $6 per person to let you in, It'll probably take and hour or so also. Expect to be directed to park up and go inside to complete the formalities when you get to the booth. Not a big deal if your expecting it maybe a bit disconcerting if not.

Also make sure you tell the car hire people you intend to take the car across the boarder and check you have the insurance paperwork for the car. again shouldn't be an issue but best to be prepared for when/if the Po-lice pull you over for speeding because you speedo is in KPH and you guessing the MPH, funny how the only time we have been pulled was two days in a row in a Canadian car in CA and NV. Fortunately on both occasions Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane figured 2 Brits in a Canadian rental in the southern US a few miles from the state line was not worth the paperwork. ·
