Just got back from dealers, looked at this DB9 in Hardley Green http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3959565.htm
I am fairly new to AM, so opinions would be appreciated

The car is for my missus, she loves the color combo. I liked it in flesh as well TBH but I personally think it might be an issue on re-sale, no?

Alternative is this one http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4239279.htm in Morning Frost. Is it safer bet? She does not like grey, black or blue AM, wants smth different. Have not seen Morning Frost car though as it is far away. Also don't like the wheels on Morning Frost car, never seen these before, are they standard AM or aftermarket?

Hardley Green car seems to be in good condition, 2 former owners I've been told, first one Aston Martin's CEO Dr Bez if I understood correctly.
1. If it is correct is this a good sign or bad?! Should be well spec car if it was him but could it have potentially hard early life?
2. I've been told the car has top spec but I'm not really familiar with AM spec list, so does it sound correct? Is there anything important missing in the spec list?
3. Also, does it look like good valuer or is it overpriced? I think it is the cheapest 470bhp 09 reg model I've seen but there are quite a few cheaper 08 reg cars which I understood are also MY09 with 470bhp. What do you think would be possible to negotiate bearing in mind I might consider arranging the finance through AM (their real rates are not as scary as their web site published rates wink )
4. In general what shall I look at buying MY09 DB9?

Thanks

I prefer the Hadley Green DB9 with the Sports Pack and lower miles. You should also invest in Grant's AM book to get a clear understanding of what to look for.

Stunning cloud9 if that was a Volante I would seriously consider swapping.

Horrible colour in my humble opinion. The car is great though :-)

I would agree color (hg) is not to everyone's taste. I actually went there to view another car, I've seen hg on the pictures and did not like it at all but missus loved it in flesh, so I don't mind.

Is the spec OK?
How about value, does it sound too much? What would be 'normal' negotiation discount under current circumstances?

I like both colors, but IMO Hardley Green is both gorgeous and rare. Also, it has a Bitter Chocolate interior, which is just stunning -- very classy, elegant and rich-looking. Sports Pack also -- fanstastic spec overall.

Agree with Speedraser, the HG car is special, very much a car I would spec from new with that combo. Plus sports pack transforms the DB9 into something very special.

The MF car... Do you want to look a very minor Emirati royal..? Looks like it should be parked badly outside Harrods.

You are quite well known to be a hater of green in all of its various shades. Fortunately, Aston themselves seem to agree with us green lovers inasmuch as they have so many of them with their imprimatur: 'Aston Martin', 'Aston', 'DBR9', 'Racing', etc.

Is imprinatur a real word or did your iPhone's autocorrect come up with that?
I do like green on older cars but the db9's lines are a little too contemporary to suit green (to my eyes).
I also associate green cars with tweed jackets or this silly slip on shoes that Americans wear with the tassles on the front. That probably makes it an age thing. I may mature into liking green but at 38 I'm still rather liking my shiny colours :-)

pesonally I like the MF better on the DB9 - I think HG suits the Vantage better. But really for me, the key is in what you said - its for the missus and she loved the HG - nuff said - then if it all goes wrong at resale, theres no comeback on you wink

whatever you get, enjoy and best of luck, its a cracking problem to have isn't it!

PS - does she smoke a pipe and wear tweed slippers to go with the DB9?

Also, how bad are DB9s rear seats for children? We tried our 4 y.o one today with booster seat at the rear and he was OK on test drive. I am yet to try with proper child seat (need to find slim one first)

I know that 'DB9 and children' topic has been discussed here quite a few times but I heard very opposite opinions...some say you cant put even young children (4-7 yo) at the back (unless you want to cut their legs off wink )...and some say children between age of 4 and 8/9 should be fine...

Will limited rear space become a problem on long journeys? My wife is petite so the child had enough room for his legs behind wifes seats sitting in booster seat. Did not complaint on the short run but I am not sure about long eurotrips as he used to big 4x4s from birth. Also proper child seat would take some extra space.

I was even thinking switching to Rapide, been offered one at just over 80k but I personally think that there are still room for huge Rapide's depreciation over next year or so. May consider switching in 12-18 month if needed. I was pretty shoked to find out that £150k 2 years old car is just 80-85k now. Looks like DB9 should be safer bet for next couple of years, am I right?

Yes, it is a real word, but at 38, perhaps you have been one of those poor fellows from the younger generation who has been shortchanged, education wise. Obviously, too much I-phone for you. I prefer a good old fashioned dictionary (you know, one that has pages made out of paper... wink

My 14 yr old son rides in the back of my volante occasionally behind his mum (160 mile round trip a couple of months ago), he's currently around 5'3" and skinny but is a getting a little squashed now and this will probably be the last year he's able but it is possible.
