Hi there,

I am going to move into a new flat and I need unlimited internet.
Is there anything good and cheap?

Sky offers me up to 10Mb for £25 with free calls (I don't care about the calling thing but I need to set up a landline in order to get internet).

What do you think?

Unlimited for £8pm - supply your own router. Just switched from BT on Friday and the move was painless.

Speediest shows 9mbs and piggy-backing on TalkTalk.

Use the Opal/TalkTalk network. I'm not sure on the new pricing as I'm in Tech Support but it's something along that ball park.

If you're in a cable area then virgin are excellent, especially as there's no line rental.

When I was with them about 2 years ago internet only with no phone or tv was £18 a month and service was rock solid. That with mobile phone and freeview box meant all comms sorted for less than £35 a month.

Now I'm in a rural area I have to plug the router in to an antique piece of technology called a phone line, can't get more than 9Mb speeds due to the old copper wiring. It feels feels like I'm regressing to an age of barbarous savages.

Whatever you do, stay away from BT!!!!!!!

I switched to them from Sky thinking they might have improved over the years, and it was the most 'stupidist' decisions i have made in my life, and believe me, i have made many.

Just to aid your decision, I had terrible experience with Virgin. The connection was incredibly unreliable and three times they said they were going to send out an engineer and didn't. In contrast I had BT for three years in my old flat and not a single drop out of service.

Quidco were offering cashback on new Virgin and Sky connections of about £200 a few weeks ago I think.

And I generally would stay away from BT but some have had good service.

I am on plus.net at the moment, where I can get 60GB a month, but they do not do unlimited. I am thinking of moving to Tesco, which would work out at £21 including calls and line rental.

I will have Sky after a month. Cheap and a 12-month contract.

Thanks everyone
