One of our kitchen cupboard doors has come off - the screws that hold in the bracket to the carcass have come out, and the screwhole has enlarged so the screw doesn't have anything to hold to (It's a chipboard based carcass)

What is the best way of filling in the screwhole so the bracket can be screwed in again?

Cheers

is the other side of the carcass seen?
if not then just drill right through and use connector bolts. cheap quick fix.

The cupboard is sandwiched in between others so can't get to the other side, but thats quite a good idea - I could drill through both cabinets and put a nut and bolt through it. Would that cause any problems?

This happened to me recently (on a brand new boat, doh). I offered the bracket up, put a couple of half-matchsticks in the hole then added the screw as normal. Depending on how badly the hole is damaged you may need more, but it's a good quick fix.

if you mean that its fixed to the next cupboard then yes, just drill a 5mm hole and use a cabinet connector bolt.

Thanks! Have just ordered some. Will try these before drilling through the cabinets method

more expensive and not as neat a solution.

I used a combination of matchstick pieces and araldite. It hadn't moved since then

I had a similar thing on the doors in my flat, I also went for the glue/matchstick option and they have held strong for the last 6 months.

I'll also vote for araldite and matchsticks

Thanks Chaps!

Let me try the matchsticks/glue option tonight and if I really mess it up i'll use those brackets.
