got a 1950s house with the original ceilings in place , theres a tell tale line where i assume the original board joins are

theyre not terible but id like to tidy it up before a repaint , will a good sand up and dig out the join then some plasterboared mesh tape over the join and some decorators filler be suitable ?

If its original, fair chance its lathe and plaster. Flexible decorators filler smoth with a wet spatula as it doesn't sand well.

Mmm 1950s could be a variety of different boards/joints .Im not sure what to advise. If they are not to bad, have a play with filling then sanding a joint without piercing the surface. See how you go and report back.

We've got that in our house, after taking the wallpaper off the ceiling (does that make it ceiling paper?), as the walls aren't that great we're getting the rooms skimmed.
