Quick desirable cars with a hatch back?
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm 33 and after a new (used) car and would like something a bit quick and desirable. Got a decent budget of about £65k and it must have a seat for my Mrs and a hatch for my best mate "Maximus" my British bulldog.
In the past I have tried him on seat covers in coupes with special harnesses but it doesnt work well. Have a 4x4 now and trying to avoid getting another. Really really don't like estates and don't think I will until they start making them in 2 door/shooting brake style.
I live in London so a 2nd car could cost me another £3k a year in parking, insurance and tax so it's a one suits all job.
So here is the list... some will need checking to see if he can get in the back!
1. Panamera Turbo
2. Aston Rapide (might be a bit expensive)
3. Aston Vantage
4. Jaguar XKR or XKR-S
5. ???
I test drove a panamera turbo and I have to say it is an amazing car to drive, the interior is spectacular but the outside would need some work. Used one I drive looked so much worse than the new GTS. In grey with the black window surrounds (rather than chrome) and a set of turbo 2 wheels and it can look ok.
Small Aston is great, But need to check hatch. Big Aston, not sure about that. Big price and small boot.
Jag?
Any ideas / thoughts guys?

How about this? Its not as sporty as your other ideas, but 414hp and lots of waftyness sound pretty good.

What a good call. Must admit that I always liked the idea of a RS or S Audi but the saloon or estate never suited. Will go check one out.http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/classifieds/use...
thanks!
- EDIT** Just read a review and it sounds like it is surprisingly dull. When is the RS7 out then?!

Came in here to suggest an e46 Compact or 9-3 Viggen, but it seems we are on different pages with regards budget!
4 years ago when the credit crunch hit and my income went down the toilet I sold up my more flashy car and got a high mileage e46 320td in black with cream leather. Nice car, surprisingly quick and was absolutely solid.... apart from the turbo going pop! The page has turned now but the way my work is (property) it could easily flip back. This time though I would get an Z3 m coupe. Had an Z3 M Roadster which I know is the ugly (hairdresser) sister but it was an awesome car.
I think I'm doing this wrong, but I would love one of these- and highly practical with a roomy boot and the must have hatch.....

Yes...it's an estate! Practical though and limited edition! I'd rather have this than a Panamera!

I'd take that in grey in a minute if I was in your position, what a beast!Yes...it's an estate! Practical though and limited edition! I'd rather have this than a Panamera!
Hatchback: yup
Desirable: Absolutely
Quick: enough for london, with 4wd for those traffic light showdowns
Practical: yup, decent boot, 4 seats
Rare: yup
Compact (again, easy parking): yup
Add in zero depreciation, and the fact you can afford to buy the best of the best and maintain it fastidiously.
It's also at least 23x as cool as those other cars you listed. (and when driving one, no one does the little finger "waggle" at you when waiting at the lights...........)
Sorted!
