The Sunday Times have published an article, about the recent resurgence of the British motor industry.

As we all know, Aston Martin have played their part. A new manufacturing facility, beautifully designed products, increased sales and importantly, increased exports.

I thought the article was quite unkind about Aston Martin. There did not appear to be any praise for the Company's efforts. The Land Rover Evoke seems to be their favourite.

All they did say was;

'Aston Martin may have a starring role in the latest Bond film, Skyfall, but its financial performance is more freefall'.

Bah humbug. Does anyone agree?

Fair comment. Unfortunately.

New Year, new business partner which adds a bit of a sparkle to the brand now. Roll on the New Year.

Yes - my contributions recently to the 'Bad News' topic, were based upon that conclusion.

Really beautiful and exceptional cars, but we have to accept, that the long term business model does seem to have a flaw. Well, during the past 100 years, there have certainly been quite a few financial 'dicky doos'. The magic of the Company is such, that further capital has always arrived in the hour of need.

The Sunday Times article, did not even include an Aston Martin in the group photograph. Amongst the cars pictured, to represent built in Britain, there was an Arial Atom though! You cannot even say the Atom has a beautiful body. There isn't a body.

I assumed that was because Aston wouldn't lend them one.

The article was pretty rubbish, written by an ignoramus, stating the obvious, a few non-conclusions, ans finally saying the UK can do anything. For anyone who actually remembers the seventies, the account was superficial.

Aston is an iconic UK brand. To expect it to constantly deliver profits is unrealistic, and the same can apply to Jag, Rolls, Bentley and the rest.
