Stunning bit of kit! read about it a while ago.

For the more power focused people then how about one of the below from Proline.

http://www.prolineracing.net/engines/plr-670ci-400...

and you will want this to go with it...

Those motors must be running nitromethane to get that kind of power?

Impressive engineering all the same! I take it they have a short lifespan too?

It's a Meteor (tank) engine. About 650bhp if you're lucky !! And it helps if you can actually get in the car to drive it !!!!!

Fer from it! They will need race fuel but deffinately not nitromethane.

Think it makes around 450, the exhaust manifolds were awful looking things. He can get in it and drive it though.

Think he's turbocharging it? Stopped buying the magazine a while back because I was fed up with the spelling mistakes, terrible editing, getting pages 1-32, followed by 1-32, then pages 64 to the end, stuff like that.
If it is bein turbid then some monster turbos are going to be needed! I would guess deisel units would be good as they match the rpm profile of the engine.

He is only turbo charging on the dyno to prove how much boost is required the achieve 1000bhp. He is going to supercharge it in the car.

As for the original engine, getting all that steel to produce ~16ltrs up to 8000 rpm is some achievement!

Ahhhh ok. That's not soo bad then. There are plenty of blowers that could net that power. Whipple 4.0 unit should be able to shift that much air and there are several centrifugal blowers that will!

He'll need more like 1100bhp won't he, if he wants 1000bhp after supercharger losses?

Met him a couple of years ago at Mallory Park, really sound bloke is Charlie. Proper backyard engineer. I can forgive the lousy grammar in PPC magazine as the subject matter such as this SD1 is far more interesting to me than the perfectly punctuated prose in Evo!

probably a Jerico manual box with air shifters.
