As part of a new bedroom project we are considering making a small walk in wardrobe and like the idea of a sliding glass door like the one below. Just wondering if anyone has installed one of these themselves and any feedback about it? I'm a competent DIYer, so not expecting to have any issues with the installation, though if anything particular cropped up I'd be interested to hear.

I seem to keep finding the same type online, but if anyone knows of alternatives please let me know. This is one supplier, though I have found what looks to be the same item from Screwfix for slightly more money:

The issue with glass is you'll need to keep the wardrobe tidy all the time.

I'm just going through the same planning process and decided a wood door hiding all the clutter was best. You can also choose lower priced fittings - hanging and baskets for example - when its not on permanent show.

I should have picked the image of the frosted glass version since that is what we will be going with. We have some old free standing Ikea wardrobes with frosted glass doors so I know it's the better option.

EDIT, like this:

I can't find who makes this door since I prefer the handle over the Screwfix version in my first post, if anyone recognises it.

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone know where I can get something like the sliding doors above, but for wood doors rather than glass?

There seem to be a number of places in the States, but not much in the UK from what I can tell.

Something I've seen on a US site that we quite like:

Hi,

I've not used the style you have shown but have used these people before for frameless glass slinding door kits, http://www.doorstuff.co.uk/frameless-glass-sliding...

Just got the sliding gear/handles etc then ordered glass to size direct from local glass company, most glass places can do toughned sand blasted and a whole host of other fineshes besides.

IMO, without a frame to 'see', that is an accident waiting to happen.
If you have children, don't go there.

Thanks DTYPE I've come across that one myself. I do know a glass supplier that is decent and fairly priced, but just though it would be easier to order it all from one place. Spent half the afternoon searching on line and found a few places that can quote, but funny that I haven't found a place selling one like the second (frosted) picture. With the power of the web I'd have thought that picture would turn up somewhere with a useful link.

With a frosted glass sliding door there is plenty to see and our youngest is nearly 14.
