Hi everyone
Sorry to barge straight in looking for help. I came across you whilst googling a solution to my problem and was very impressed by your knowledge..........so I joined biggrin And am hoping you knowledgeable people can point me in the right direction :-D

As I said, my oven won't turn on frown It's a Beko OIF22300XL - single built in fan oven - not hardwired. (get me! lol) Things is have tried so far................nothing! lol Well, I've googled :-D I now know how to replace the element (piece of cake :-D) but I'm wondering if it's the element that is causing the problem?

All that is working on the unit is the digital display, which suggest to me that the plug fuse is ok. I've checked my circuit board thingy and everything is as it should be - i.e. nothing tripped.

My doubts that the element is at fault stem from the fact that nothing else works - I would assume the fan would kick in, and also the interior light would come on - even the grill.............or am I just being my usual blonde numpty?

If any of you lovely people could help, that would be great smile Thanks in advance smile

Hi, I assume you're male.... find a female to do it, it'll work.
It has something to do with turning knobs or some such witchcraft.

Welcome to PH biggrin

I've known the knob that one turns to turn the oven on with to develop a crack, thus the knob spins on the shaft without actually turning the oven on; other than that I haven't a clue!

But... they checked fuses... there was no mention of reading a manual... all the classic signs!

Do you have a manual for the oven? one can be had here

http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-own...

and has a troubleshooting section on page 25.

I have had this too but on a Hoover oven. I had to superglue my knob back together...

Also on the same oven the fan motor failed which because I ignored the sounds coming from it burnt the heating element out. I can't remember if that stopped the grill from working but the interior light still worked. Fan and element replaced and touch wood, it's worked since.

Beko stuff is cheap crap. Buy a new oven.

As above. Setting the clock will do. You will hear a click inside that is a relay setting ready for operation.

I assumed it was already in the flat when you moved in, but if you bought a Beko appliance then I can understand why you're annoyed with yourself.

I notice you did take my advice, by the way. wink

Excellent traditional PH advice. To the OP, imagine you are the director of several companies, which oven would suit your laissez faire, avant garde approach to life? Put your tassled loafers up onto a small tapir leather pouff and stroke your distinguished goatee while swigging a glass of cheeky micro brewery beer that you recommend to everyone except only you know where to buy it. Having gone through the range of colour options, aubergine, sunset, tallow, bruise, ring-of-fire etc. settle on one that reflects your personality though is a little left-field (not sure what that means tbh) and edgy. If you don't like it much, you could always go and live in your other house instead.
