People who treat cars like Sh*t !
Discussion
A chap I know, he has an Audi A6 3.0 tdi, rather a nice car, not seen it in a while and was shocked to see what a state its in, window trim bent and hanging off, all four wheels covered in thick black crud and missing several chunks. The paintwork is ruined, especially the rear drivers side door, a big crease and lots of random squirly scratches, I had never seen anything like this and enquired as to how it happened, imaginging some kind of animals claws cuaing it, but no, he tows his wheelie bin down his drive with his arm hanging out of the window, the gritty dustbin getting cosy with the paint. He has a track record like this, he had a Seven series BMW and used to take his Springer Spaniel out with it sat on the back seats, I say sat, well charging about leaving holes in the leather, the other was beaching a three series and seriously damamging the floor pan rather than make a proper three point turn. I reckon the Audi would need £1000, maybe more to make it saleable. Another one was pinning notes to the dash of a Seven series, would need a new dash or some serious invisible repair work.
My brothers mother in law bought a new VW Eos and it is a dustbin, every corner scuffed, all wheels beyond refurbishment, the light coloured interior a filthy mess.
Girl at work, no money, was on about 13/14 grand passed her test and wouldnt be seen dead in a car for the grand she had saved up, so signed on the dotted for five years finance on a Mini One, then proceeded to ruin it, scuffs, dents and an interior like a dung heap, may as well have done that to some old bin of a Clio or Fiesta
I know some people arent interested in cars and we are apt on here to be extremely anal and go into mourning at a stone chip but surely, even the most uninterested driver must realise the damage they are doing and the resultant affect on the cars value, most dont seem to have the funds to be blase !
Is it just me getting squeamish, it isnt like any of it makes any difference to the operation of the cars in question.

This sort of treatment is common place in Europe, for example in Paris and Rome it's completely normal to nudge bumpers when parking and no one cares. Most cars are filthy with scuffs everywhere. When I was in Amsterdam the taxi drivers didn't care about their cars at all, straight up curbs without worrying about the alloys. Quite a refreshing attitude really!

people see cars merely as tools to be used. i'm the same with phones, generally throw them around and abuse them while other cosset their iphones like a newborn.
peoples ideas of what's important differs
from one person to the next regardless of what it costs.
I do this with my iphone but i generally look after anything I would consider expensive.peoples ideas of what's important differs

I've spent my hard earned money after all

But most people wouldn't live in a filthy untidy house and wear dirty battered clothes...I fail to see how a vehicle is different :/
My Pug is a snotter which I bought purely because I had to insure something else or lose my NCB. It didn't get cleaned for eight months, the doorbins don't get emptied regularly and it gets driven for short journeys without checking the oil and water every time. It's mechanically sound and I don't give an actual st if the carpet is dirty, it also has dents all over it (not caused by me).I don't live in my Pug and my clothes are very nice, thank you.
I can't remember the last time my car was washed inside or out.
It's only a Corsa that gets me to work and back.
Doesn't mean i don't like cars but no sense in keeping it spotless just to see it get dirty again. It'll get washed and cleaned inside when it's time to sell it this summer for the next person to treat it exactly as it is, a simple tool for getting somewhere.
Quit judging people.

I don't get it either, not that I care what other people do to their own property, but I've looked after all of my cars, even the £200 ones!
I was dropping an apprentice home one day, I stopped to give way to a car in a narrow lane, the apprentice said "Watch this woman", an elderly lady in a MK4 Golf, which was about 5-6 years old at the time, pulled into her driveway and drove at the big wooden gate to open it, bounced off the front bumper and dragged down the entire offside of the car. Does it every time she comes home apparently!
