Apologies if this has already been covered in another thread. I don't remember seeing anything on this:

"Sergey Brin, a co-founder of Google, predicts that driverless cars will be ready for sale to customers within five years."

The article is pretty enthusiastic about the prospect of driverless cars, citing the benefits of more efficient transport infrastructure, reduced journey times, and greater accessibility for elderly and disabled drivers. It also acknowledges the risks of computers malfunctioning, but gives minimal acknowledgement to the concept that some drivers may actually enjoy driving their cars.

What are people's thoughts? Is the 5 year target set by Sergey Brin over-ambitious?
