So, after my thread a few months back about getting an UP, I've done the deal and it arrives in a month or so...This is because I've killed my 306 GTI, as per another recent thread haha

Background: I run a detailing company, soon to be expanded into a few other bits, but general use of the UP is my day to day vehicle, going to clients, possible courtesy car etc...The 306 was hardly presentable, but did the job over the winter (I used to have a constant flow of Clio 200's prior to this) to get to my already existing clients who knew my car changing addiction..

The UP, is now, a presentable, quirky, miniature car, which will be my 'Van' for work, and due to the fact that I can't sell the thing, it will be mine for 2 years, and I therefore would like to make some changes, to double up as a promo car, much like a British Gas van is to them, a mobile advert...

The car is red, but I have ventured into Plastidipping, and I'd like to 'dip the UP, and sticker up the rear window and a section on the bonnet...

BUT, what colour would you do it? Plastidip is generally matte finishes, so it's going to stand out, and that's what I want, but I don't want it to be black or white, but I also need to remain professional looking, and not too much of a tt than I already will given I'll be driving a toy sized car..

Current contenders are:

Matte blue (imagine a smurf)
Matte orange (M3 GTS styley)
Or, wildcard choice, Gulf livery!

Or, just leave it Red? I know I run a detailing company, and having it perfectly polished and waxed would be ideal, but it's my everyday car and I already find it hard enough to look after the hundreds of cars that I do! That, and as I said, it would make a good promo tool for me smile

What do you think chaps?

Unless you are going to be using it for advertising then just leave it red IMO.

I would avoid matte finish if your a detailing company, you make cars shine yet turn up in a non shiny car?

I'd say gloss or metallic, Porsche Riviera blue, RS Green or ST Orange smile

I'm also a Plastidip company wink

Sadly though, the finish will never be as good and as shiny as paint, and it is generally matte finishes only, glossifiers can make it a little shinier, but never a paint-like finish!

Catch 22 this one...

I'd do it the same colour as your corporate colour, obviously. Or a colour that compliments your corporate colour and/or logo.

Good point well made. You need your work car to shine like a new pin.

That was my original plan, brand Image and association is important, but I don't have a 'colour', my site is very much dark colours, which I personally like (new site will be live shortly, but general look the same) but I don't think my 'car' would suit being black/grey, it needs to be eye catching, in my opinion...

Matte light blue

There was an R32 in that colour round here, and really stood out

1) What colour is used in your logo?
2) Making your site dark may look nice but does it reflect the business?

Don't pick random colours because it looks nice. BP didn't spend millions on this "because it looks nice":

What appeals to your customers?

Don't get me wrong - not being negative. I think it's a great opportunity for you if you're able to change the colour of your car and brand it.

Ah.

How about pearlescent white?

Could even do a matt black roof and bonnet in plastidip to reflect the logo.

How about showing both sides of the business: plastidip one half, keep the other highly polished. nuts

VW Up.

Speaking of which, since you can't make up your mind. How about a colour scheme inspired by VW itself:

I just think white is a little too 'normal' given that you can get them in White anyway!

My logo, is going to change. Ive rebranded and everything is changing slightly, more of an expansion but with a new brand name (detailing still remaining obviously)

I hear what you say about keeping it in keeping with the site/brand, but I don't think I can accomodate a smurf coloured theme on my site?

Great idea. A modern day harlequin would be pretty cool as well though.

Could you post up the new logo?

Not quite ready yet, but the general theme is the same really!

I like the idea of half and half, but the plastidip really needs an edge to cling too, it can cope in small areas but having an edge front to back probably won't go well!

I really appreciate your advice Hoofy, I'm trying to think how I could incorporate it into my 'image', but I also want to stand out...Maybe I'll just put a large matte orange banner on the site haha
