Thread/Topic closures
Discussion
I was wondering, how do the PH mods judge whether a thread has reached its limits?
Mods.. Is it down to your discretion or do you have a little book of Haymarket guidelines that states if something is reaching inappropriate levels, you just shut the thread? Just sometimes, and this is only my perception, some threads seem to push boundaries and are left where as harmless fun is nipped in the bud.
Where do you stand on bullying, ie. lots of people ganging up on one poster?
Also, as obvious human beings with senses of humour, is it hard not to join in on childish, potentially slanderous fun?
Thanks for answering my cyber questions

That is an excellent question James.
As an observer to these forums for quite a long time now with not much posting myself, it is curious when a thread becomes aggressive or abusive to those with opinionated views on topics. I think a mod role is actually quite interesting, if subjective and with an element of disambiguation.
Being a mod on PH is a pretty cool hobby I would guess.

OK, I'll bite.
It's all based on the same Posting Rules that you signed up to when you joined, coupled with plenty of experience and an understanding of the core values of the PistonHeads community.
However, the Moderators cannot and do not see every thread. If you spot something that you believe is out of order:
1. Try and resolve is amongst yourselves - make it clear to those that are out of line that it isn't acceptable.
2. If necessary hit the 'Report' link above the offending post. This will ensure that the entire moderation team get to see and assess whether a problem exists, and take appropriate action.
