From what I've read on the Internet 'Deck Error' displayed on the multimedia screen basically means the CD changer is kaput.

Just acouple of questions about this:

Is it a simple replacement job of stripping down the centre console, removing the dash panels and replacing the CD changer? Or is there something else involved worth noting?

Does anyone know the part number for the CD changer so I make sure I buy the correct part?

Other than the likes of the dealer and eBay is there any breakers I should know of or does anyone know of anyone selling the CD changer? smile

On to the passenger window:

When using the drivers power window switch for the passenger side, the window only drops in small increments no matter the length of time pressed on the switch.. It does not come all the way down with the button pressed down.
Also, when the car is unlocked and I pushed the passenger door handle in for the window to drop slightly below the chrome frame, if I keep repeating this the window keeps coming down and down. I can make a mini video for anyone unsure what I mean.

I haven't had chance to check anything out on this so wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar?
Guessing my first port of call will be to take the fuse out or something to hopefully reset the functioning of the window etc.

Many thanks,
Regards
Gaz

I might be able to post something in the next day or two regarding the window problem as the problem with my drivers side window has returned.

Sorry Peter I missed your thread or I'd have responded in there rather than make a duplicate.
Will report back once I get it solved smile

Cheers

Gaz,

I had the same issue with my CD player. Used this company - http://www.blueice-electronics.co.uk/ based in Romford. They charged £76.83 to inspect and clean the Volvo CD changer unit. If any replacement parts are required they contact you with the cost prior to commencing works. For once I was lucky and there were no extras needed. It cost me £24.50 to send it next day insured delivery.

It's relatively straight forward to remove it, as per the vid on Youtube - http://youtu.be/kCwOayN32-0 until it comes to removing the stereo/controls fascia. The cables connecting to the lower controls (AC/traction control/hazards/recirc) and particularly the three plugs situated behind the temperature/fan dials are VERY tight. Also, mask your surrounding leather because the edges of the facia are very sharp.

Superstar mate, thanks very much! Really appreciate the info. So even though you had Deck Error, there was no repair needed?

A small bit of info on the window guys.

Today I'd been faffing with it while cruising, up and down and again depending on the road wind/noise. Then when I wanted it down again, it went all the way down and then back up. Was working spot on for the rest of the drive until I got home. Went to put it up and its in increments again. Quite bizarre.
Will whip the door card of tomorrow and check the plugs/connections and give them a clean etc.

1 last thing, I also tried with the passenger window switch and it worked perfectly even when the drivers switch was functioning incorrectly.

Ermmmmm, you've got me thinking now? Can't remember if it was a deck error or disc error I had! At the time I tried to source a replacement from eBay etc. without any luck and AM wanted £800 to fit a new one. I think that company can fix it though and it will probably work out cheaper.

Quick update regarding the window problem, I had the mobile technician from Murray Motors come and have a look at the car today, I wasnt there but the wife said that he found the problem is with the window regulator and a new one would be required. When I'm home next I'll get them to change it and then post with a further update.

I did a partial write up on my CD Changer fix here it shows the connector points on the audio panel. Small hands would be very useful for this job.

Don't lever the ski slope out like the video shows just release it through the sat nav opening by pulling up on it.

Slight update, Murray Motors are coming out next week to fit a new window regulator, this is covered by my warranty, however for those with no warranty the price to supply and fit is £594

Yeah I feared that might me the sort of price.
My guess is that it's the Hall effect sensors that will be kaput. If the weather is suitable I'll be having a poke around in the door tomorrow. Might not result in a fix, but won't cost me anything either.

So the result of that was no fix.
The hall sensors are inaccessible within the regulator assembly and the connector type makes it impossible to get a voltmeter onto them when connected.
The wiring loom checks out OK though, so I guess I'm confident it's either regulator or door module. So not really very helpful!

Thanks for the updates.

I haven't had chance to have a look around mine yet... Sorry, I lie. I would have had chance but every time I get it out the garage with some free time, it just screams; "Drive me"! Which is hard to resist and now even harder since fitting the 200cell sports cats biggrin

Hey David. Are you going to be present when they swap it out?
I'd be grateful to know whether they change to door control module too.

For the avoidance of doubt, the window regulator looks like this:-

The door module looks like this:-

Hi Peter, no I'm still working away so won't be there, however when I spoke with the service manager it will just be the regulator that they are changing out. They should be doing it tomorrow so will let you know if they fix the problem.

The mobile Technician from Murray Motors came out and fitted the replacement window regulator yesterday and I’m happy to report that it seems to have resolved my window problem.
