Hotel recommendation Stuttgart

Hi

I am thinking of going to Stuttgart on Friday morning with a view to seeing the Porsche and Mercedes museums on the Saturday and then a nice drive home on the Sunday, of course I will need somewhere to stay for a couple of nights and things to do in the evenings,can anyone make any recommendations on where to stay, with a car park for the GT3 and what there is to do other than the museums in Stuttgart?

Pete - I did this trip two weeks ago. I stayed on Rewards Points at the Marriott, just outside Stuttgart, in Sindelfingen. I chose the place purely because of ability to use points, but it has a secure underground car park with wide spaces, a pool/gym and very very good steakhouse, which given the rather tired and old decor of the place really surprised me...so probably worst Marriott from a decor and newness perspective I've stayed in, but best restaurant by a country mile, and car was safe. About a 15min drive to Museum. The place is sleepy so no bright lights and action in the evening which may not suit...

Don't forget to take your V5 for proof of 911 ownership so you get free ticket access for you +1 (and children).

Museum is a class act with great parking underneath. I'm so glad I managed to get there during the 50th Jahre Exhibition.

Both Porsche and Mercedes museums are fantastic - both buildings are amazing architectural achievements.

The Porsche Museum is focussed inwardly on the family's achievements, birth of the company, and - of course - the racing and products. Be prepared to put in a good six+ hours if you are a Porsche fan -- you'll savour virtually every exhibit.

The Mercedes Museum takes a different approach - literally a trip through time - showcasing the the 20th Century. Worth experiencing on Sunday morning when it's quiet and you can take it all in.

Also recommend taking a drive out to see the old Solitude circuit SW of the city -- and get a beer + wurst (nice countryside + awesome roads 15 mins from town)

Accomodation-wise, can highly recommend the Radisson Park hotel (bookable via lastminute.com) - good value, clean, modern, secure underground parking)

One last thing, iPhone Google maps works a treat for downtown navigation if you get stuck...

Fantastic place

I stayed here a few years ago. Has secure parking out back of hotel. All the Works drivers used to stay here. Photos and prints scattered along every corridor, signed by the drivers themselves.

Great, I didn't know about the free entry with your 911 V5 so that's good to know, going to book my euro tunnel tickets up and sort a hotel.

Graff Zeppelin was very nice indeed, underground car park which judging by the number of classic Ferrari's bellowing out of it in the morning must be secure, and a short walk into the centre of town for an evening beer. Porsche factory tour really facinating, museum amazing,

The nearest hotel is probably the Golden Leaf in Zuffenhausen. Stayed there 3 weeks ago. Premier Inn standard and prices so not very exciting but secure garage and excellent breakfast. You have to drive to go out for dinner.

+1my son and I stayed here for 2nights in jan make sure you get a steak at blockhouse opposite the station just the best steaks and chips ever!
