please save me from Lloyds TSB
Discussion
Years and years ago my dad had a contractor to cut his silage. Said contractor hit a well with his mower and needed a loan to get the mower sorted to keep the wheels turning. He went to his bank who declined to offer him the loan to fix the mower. He stormed out of the bank managers office and as his did he shouted "your just a bloody shop that sells money".
That's how I treat them, shop around like you would for anything else.

I have written to some length about banks on another thread, Amongst my friends we run several companies both large and small and when we meet and have a chat banks come high on the agenda or to be more accurate the slagging off session. When you have money in your account they try to sell you services you don't need and when you get yourself in a tight situation they either ignore you and hope you go away, or as I have found take so long because the 'grocery boy' you see or the team as I found last time have no discretion, I've had about 12 managers over the years and have never met one of them my last incarnation is a 'team' I believe.
We are all of the opinion they are all the same and to put it kindly, useless, stick with the one you have is what I would suggest because with charges and arrangements and trying to see a business manager is more time consuming than you could want and you could be doing better things with your time.
Barclays have a very good on-line banking system though.

I've been with Lloyd's for six years as a sole trader and have gone LTD so need a new bank account. Never been overdrawn and my bank manager said I had an "A star rating."
After I filled in an application form in my bank I left. Job done.
Same day he rang me to say I had to ring an 0800 number.
Did that and was promised a call back "within 48 hours". 8 days later I rang them and gave them a bollicking.
This was after I tried to arrange an overdraft two months ago, without success because it took so long and so many phone calls.
I didn't need it in the end.
I'm trying Natwest (RBS group ) as I've been with them forever privately.

Unless you've got an unattended and unmedicated mental health problem I'd suggest you avoid RBS. On the other hand, if you DO have an unattended and unmedicated mental health problem you'd probably be better there than anywhere.
Care to qualify that statement just a little bit please? (Oh and I am well aware of what went on, just presume that as we all now own part of them...)When I was a student (way in the overdraft) and only had a personal account. HSBC was an absolute arse...that being said I was an arse with money that wasn't mine, so it works both ways.
Now I have a little more money, always sit in the black and have a business account with them however HSBC have been second to none. I even get put through to people I can understand and that understand me! (as long as I don't call the 24/7 business banking number too late, then I think the call centre changes)
Some of the charges on the business account are a little steep once you get past the free introductory period but the service is there. I would probably change however if I found a completely free business banking provider.
