What good B road car
Discussion
Im after a new car, right now I have an MX5 which I've had for just over one and a half years but to be honest its been a disappointment, my budget is 7K I want something that's good whatever the weather and exciting like my old Ignis Sport was, an Impreza or Evo would be the ultimate but I think aether one would probably cost more than I would like to run, so I'm looking for something with the same traits as those two but cheaper to run and fairly new ish so no older than say about 7-8 years.
What im looking for:
Flexible engine with good low down power so no vtecs and the like
Petrol
FWD or 4WD
Good communication through the controls
Good stability
Good all weather performance
Roughly 30+ mpg
fairly quick
All I can find is the Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart.
Anyone have any other ideas

Why does it have to be so new? All that will bring is more toys and unnecessary weight, additional mechanical complexity etc. The ultimate B road blaster imo is a Peugeot Rallye 106, Imprezas and Evos are much quicker but you need a lot more commitment and willingness to sacrifice your licence to work one of those out. The Rallye is tiny, light and feels much quicker than you would expect, and you can drive the arse off one without hitting 3 figure speeds in between every corner like you can in an STi or Evo.

Obviously there will be exceptions but my 13 year old MX5 is horrendously rusted underneath to the point where rust is flaking off most of the metal work, so Id just prefer something newer. No idea on your budget or any real criteria but the colt is hatchback so how about an RS Clio 197?

I can't argue with that, for B road fun nothing really touches the Rallye. It's amazingly good for that sort of 'thrash it round the lanes' fun.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
