In the left corner we have a Land Rover Defender 90 powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine, while in the right corner, a Ram pickup truck powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins diesel unit.

So before you watch the vid, who wins?

Absolutely. And most likely high/low ratio Gbox against boggo automatic.

Why??

A 2.5TD Land Rover with only 89bhp is rated to tow 3500kg, the Ram weighs less than this. And with the Ram in 2wd mode if won't have the traction to counter the pull.

Factory special that 300tdi was it? scratchchin

That's one of the very few videos on you tube where if you dig into the comments it explains whats going on with the result. Unlike most responses which show why China and South Korea will pretty much own America one day soon.

4x4 in more grip than 2WD shocker.

Now try an 8x8 v superbike.

And it looks like an open rear diff on the Ram.

The Ram has a considerable weigh advantage over the LR. It has a 6.7 litre tractor engine to provide plenty of grunt and a fair bit of weight transfer. Assuming it's an auto, the driver should be able to gently increase pull without breaking traction. The 2wd 1/2 ton is rated to pull 10,350 lbs, that's double what the LR is rated at. As it's the diesel I think it will be a 1 ton and has a max towing capacity of about 30,000lbs. The person that took that video is on another channel I frequent and I'm lead to believe they were just pissing about, even so, the Dodge should have dragged the LR out of the county were it not all mouth and no trousers.

I'm a Land Rover fan but if the Ram had working 4WD it would have pulled the Defender apart

You can easily see the Ram only has 2WD and an open diff so in reality one working wheel of traction vs the Land Rovers proper locked 4WD.. no suprise really.. rolleyes
