Serp belt tensioner
Discussion
Finally taken the plunge and ordered a SC kit for my Griff.
So now I start the planning.
I have a question regarding the serp belt tensioner. My car has A/C which needs to removed. With A/C cars, the belt tensioner tensions inward to tension the belt after it wraps around the A/C pump. When I remove the A/C, the tensioner will need to tension outwards after it wraps around the alternator.
Can I reverse the spring inside the tensioner (assuming that's possible) or do I need another tensioner?
Thanks in advance.

Ditch the sprung tensioner & fit a JE alternator bracket.

The bracket has a conventional threaded adjuster rod for belt tension & leaves things looking like this:

Thanks.. That's a good point... the belt for the SC is a 7pk ribbed one so tension is important.
Updated to say: slight brain fade here.
Had another look this evening...the tensioner is in fact the same for both A/C & non A/C.. It's the pulley that differs. A/C pulley tensions the flat (non ribbed) side whilst non A/C needs a ribbed pulley.
So all I need is a new pulley.
