Afternoon all

I have an Omega Aqua Terra quartz watch (The small one 38mm I think) and I'm wondering how much it would be worth. The house insurance is due & it wants any items over 500 listed.
Also I don't really wear it so may sell it on, in fortunately I lost the box & all cards/papers with it when I moved a few years ago. I bought the watch from Goldsmiths in Bradford for my 22nd birthday back in 2002, so it's all genuine.
Any ideas??
Cheers
Jamie

Had a quick look in Chrono24, and they range from 750 (2004, with papers) to 1370 (still under warranty, with box & papers). Both are dealer prices.

As a private seller with no box or papers you would accept less (whoever is buying it will want to factor in a service and strap adjustment), but insurance value should be enough to let you replace it with something similar.

So if I put it for sale at 400 would that be about right?

You'd want it replaced if it was stolen, no?

Sounds like for insurance purposes you may want to be over 1k

Even without B&P, if it is in good condition, 500 would be a VERY healthy saving over dealers so I'd say 400 was quite conservative.

Are you selling or insuring?

500 would be a 33% drop from the cheapest one at a dealer with B&P, by the sounds of things... Seems a fair place to start and a good deal for someone, though it may be a tricky sell if it is 'small' and quartz frown

Good luck with the dream car purchase smile

Jamie, does your house insurance cost 25 per year?! It sounds terrible - even a 1,500 notification limit was rubbish well over a decade ago (when mine was 3,000 - enough for a Rolex) but 500 is comical now.

I also wonder whether it is an indemnity policy rather than new for old, in part because of the rubbish limits and also because you are asking for the used value.

I would guess that a used AT quartz was worth closer to double the price that you have suggested, but for a NFO policy you need to be stating 1.750 which is the RRP for a new AT quartz.

This is the watch

Appologies for the rubbish pictures but I only have my phone to hand.

It's the 38.5mm one.

I've decided to sell it so could anybody give me a rough price to ask for it? Bearing in mind there's no box or papers. I don't want to ask too much for it but I also don't want to give it away like I did my PO Quantum of Solace.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Is it this one (I'm looking a small Blackberry screen): http://m.omegawatches.com/collection/seamaster/aqu...

I think that's a pretty watch and would hope it would attract a few buyers.

Can't help beyond the advice already given but I'm sure that would find a home.

However, what I would say is that if you can pick up a Speedmaster Reduced Auto from £750 then this will likely need to be a bit less, so I'm sticking to my £500 guesstimate...

I will reiterate: get a better policy, but at the very least ensure that you quote new replacement costs.

Thanks for all your help guys.
Sold it for £700, I'm very happy with that considering it had no paperwork or box.... It cost £820 when I bought it so £10 per year depreciation isn't bad smile

Well done - I'm glad I had forgotten about that as I was getting tempted to play!

It's a handsome piece and hopefully the new owner was pleased!
