I've just found out I'm not allowed to ask for this information on here - does anyone know where I can find out what a rare car is worth? There are no others the same for sale anywhere, it's custom so not listed in any price guides.

Please help

Some further info needed:

Is it an old, vintage or classic car?

Is it a kit car?

Is it a modern(ish) custom car?

A one off you say? Is it a home built "special"?

Without saying what it is because I'm not allowed.

It's a vintage/classic - lots in this site but it has a very special engine fitted in it.

Not allowed ???

You can't advertise but you can ask what a 1UZ engined Alfa Junior is worth (as an example)

However as always with such specials the market is small so it really depends how long you are prepared to wait to find a similar minded buyer.

Then specialists will be able to give some idea. If there is an owners club then they may be able to recommend people who can give a valuation. Valuation for sale, or for insurance? If the latter, then you'll need to find out, again from specialists, what the cost would be to rebuild it.

Apparently not allowed to ask what's it worth, my thread was removed - I even clearly stated its not for sale through the thread.

Doesn't stop anyone looking in my garage

Yep - except I wrote that a fair few years ago and now the time has come 😥

Ah - I've seen a few of those over the years.

Prices varies massively as does the condition - I'd suggest a 24v adds perhaps £500-750 over a std one.

To post on the owners club site I need to buy a years membership which I' can do if it helps value the car. I'm just now worried I'll pay the membership and come up against the same rules as here.

Maybe the mods should consider a 'what's it worth' forum?

Thank you that's very helpful indeed. And around what I'd imagined. The general price tag seems to be on the up now looking at the classifieds. So very hopeful. I'll probably look at starting advertising it next spring.

There was a 24v s1 for sale 4 months ago for just under £4k. It sold. If it wasn't an s1 id have been very interested.

Put it on EBAY with no reserve and you will find out the value.

Stunning, but it's Clapton's SP12 EC; far from a BB replica.
