It does not have power steering but having read this forum that does not seem to be a problem unless you use the car to go to sainbury's which I certainly won't be.

O.K. Dave, I'll get the negative out of the way..given the mileage (believe it or not although 72k is low in the real world, it is reasonably high in TVR terms) non PAS (like it or not it genuinely affects value by £1,000), year of car, time of year etc I would realistically think this car is worth around £8.5k private or £9k from a dealer in mid-winter.
Now the positves, most TVR owners know that the higher mileage better used cars generally develop less faults so as long as long as the history is complete and good I wouldn't write it off, two owners is good, this generally means either the car has just not been used or cherished, given the mileage I would think the latter.
On the history front just ask a couple of questions such as has clutch or cam been replaced as these common faults by this stage of it's life.
On a vehicle of this age I would thouroughly recommend a proper check of the chassis, rust is the enemy of TVR chassis, has the car always been garaged? Are there receipts for any chassis treatments?
At this stage of life the front will have it's fair share of stonechips, quite a few normally and Mica Blue will show them up, if not ask the vendor who painted it, a good gauge of how honest a vendor can be. Most people who have a TVR for a few years end up having a front end repaint - par for the course.
You could be onto a potential winner but if you are unsure, there are lots of Chimaeras out there and you could half your mileage for that money which will affect your resale.

Has half the mileage, is one year newer and looks well cared for. That and the fact the seller (Schnozz) is very well know on these forums so many of the people on here will know the car and should be able to vouch for its condition.
If twas my money I know which of the 2 I'd be looking at.

I was round Shnozz's earlier in the week and the condition of his car always amazes me, for the year it is stunning, the chassis, interior and body is better than most cars five years newer. He's also just had fully adjustable suspension fitted by Joospeed.

yes mate - one last ditch effort to sell it at the start of the year. If it doesnt sell at that price then its staying put!
Lack of time means its getting used too little and I would rather see someone else get the pleasure the car deserves. The S2 is due to be totally rebuilt and a number of modifications so its unlikely I will have enough time to devote to the Chimaera in the immediate future. If you look in the Rover classifieds and the property classifieds you'll see its a fresh start to the new year

you are quite right Tony - there are a large number of PHers that have seen the car in the fibreglass that can vouch for the A1 condition. Its been to Virginia Waters on numerous occasions, virtually every Hampshire region meet, Le Mans, Pistonfest etc etc.

Great idea, wish I'd had the balls to do that a few years ago. Good luck with it, I am very very envious.
As for the car, its doing everything it should, still not inspired to take pictures of it though!
