Took a chance and bought these - Chimaera seats

Stripped them down -

Obviously well bent But the gamble paid off . Because underneath the cover and padding the seat frames are identical to the original poor condition S ones in my 3c. So stripped my S seats fitted the Chimaera padding and covers and result -

Now have a pair of reasonable condition magnolia XJS seats . FREE to a good home collect from Stafford if anybody wants them .

That's a very neat job; and you have good taste in steering wheels as well laugh

A good piece of lateral thinking which adds to our combined knowledge.

So,to put it another way,Chimaera seats ( and Griff seats which are the same?) are a direct fit into an S?

Or to put it another way, a stealthy way of upgrading bit by bit to "The Dark Side"

I have sat in the majority of TVR seats and I have to say Tamora ones exceeded all the others in terms of comfort and support.
Hard to find at a reasonable price I guess.

Maybe Marc C wants them?

Shame to chuck them away as some will want them before 2015 is out.

Seats are a personal thing.

Seems a shame to throw usable seats away. XJS seats seem a popular mod. Perhaps post a Free XJS Seats thread in the General TVR forum.

Hi Kie, was watching the NFL on C4 - well the first half then went to snoozeland.

Those seats look good. Stafford is a bit of a trek but we could organise a TVR relay to get them down.

Alternatively, I maybe riding up North in the New Year so could collect direct.

Hi Dave those seats seam longer on the base , than standard S seats , and do they sit quite high off the floor , giving you less leg clearance ,,around the steering wheel... "big thighs ." I have ...The corbeau buckets I have now are just about bearable on a long journey ..really I should be looking at steering wheel options .. If you can confirm my thoughts Dave ..

Same with the Cerbera seats, but not a problem unless you are 6' plus. The other issue to look out for is the back of the seat clouting the seat belt housing. If you are thinking about fitting alternative seats next year check this before you have them recovered. It's probably an easy fix (just chop a bit out of the back of the seat) but best done before the expensive re-trim. You do not need to know how I know this laugh Only really a problem though for those with longer legs and have the seat nearly all the way back.

When I first saw your post chiefyo, I didnt realise the passengers seat was damaged, I thought it was specially adapted for a nagging mother in law to get a better view!

Jag seats were closer to steering wheel, and close to seat belt but I am 6ft plus and it didn't cause me any problems. As for steering wheel ideas I am about to ebay a moto lita flat wheel with an outer dia of 13.5" if this may be of help or interest. Lastly the XJS seats have been claimed .
