I have placed three wooden studs into a dry wall in order to provide support for a basin in an en suite. Basically I cut out vertical holes from top to bottom of the dry wall, slid the wooden studs in and fastened them top and bottom to existing joists. There is about a half inch between the face of each stud and the face of the remaining plaster board together with a small gap between each stud and the dry wall plaster board.

I now need to fill over and around the studs to end up with a smooth wall again, ready for tiling.

What plaster/bonder/other powdered-stuff-that-i-mix would be best for this?

Multi finish will be fine . not a plasterer , just a lifetime of bodging.

Are you painting the finished surface? Might need a bit more work if so.

As above, but wouldn't really bother plastering it if it's going to be tiled.

Multi finish it is then, no not painting, reaching for a tiler when it's ready to go.

never again!

Thanks all.

Thistle bonding coat is better for this application, it's thicker and won't sag as much as multi finish.

It goes off a little too quickly for those who are not used to plastering. Other than that its fine. If the wall is being tiled then it will be easier.
