Waterproofing bbq cover

Hi, I have a canvas type barbecue cover and over time it has stopped being waterproof. Can anyone recommend a product that would fix this? If it also restored it back to black that would be a nice bonus.

A wash in waterproofer such as Nikwax might be worth a try?
