Stopping garage door hinges rusting?
Discussion
I had a pair of new garage doors put on my garage when I bought the house - plain wooden ones, big bolt in the centre, big "T" hinges like these - http://www.screwfix.com/p/heavy-duty-scotch-tee-hi...
They had been getting stiffer, and eventually nearly seized up. So when I left the door unbolted one night and there were high winds, 2 of the 6 hinges bust.
Now I have got 6 new hinges like these - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200970849499?_trksid=p20... - but they don't look galvanised, and it isn't mentioned in the advert. Don't want them rusting, would a wipe with engine oil or something else stop them from going nasty, or should I just eat the cost and buy another lot that ARE galvanised?
