Answer: an unseen Clio 182 off of ebay with belt/pump change and new tyres/discs in the last year! 3 month's MOT too. Spotted with just an hour of the auction left to go so no time to check details...Bought on a whim thanks to the Clio RS guide in last month's Evo magazine.

So collected it last night and drove it for an hour or so, everything works and car drives beautifully. Needs headlights polished but will do that one weekend. Other than that the bodywork is good and even alloys aren't too flakey. It is a good looking little car. cool

Bonded with it very quickly so hopefully its a keeper. I will update Reader's Car section with more details but just thought I'd share my good fortune!

It was quite the steal...mileage is high but car feels tight and doesn't look its age.

I'm biased, owning almost exactly the same car, but that looks good and it was definitely a steal at the price.

If you're not already on there then ClioSport is a great resource for spares/mods/info.

In a crazy world of £8k Peugeot 205 GTis and Mk2 Golf GTis, the Clio 172 and 182s are utter utter bargains.

£820! rofl

That's a lot of fun for the money.
Shame about those 182 wheels though. Never been very keen on them.

First thing that came to mind was exhaust... What state is it in? Is it aftermarket? Other than that top job!

I remember seeing the listing (I was just harmlessly browsing, honest, if MrsC ever read my posts!) as I'd seen a few being "reborn" for track days & thought it would at least exceed Shed money!.....top work OP & I guess it's almost an indication that the used car market is readying itself for Christmas. I always think cars of this value are bargains as you can't lose all of the purchase price when you come to resell in the future (that's another man maths myth/application isn't it!?) & they can't surely have anymore depreciation left at this price.

Exhaust looks pretty new, no signs of corrosion underneath and hanging from standard brackets. Quite the surprise. Not very loud and I'm guessing it's a Renault one?

Seems to have the cup spoiler too?

Tyres are new but chinese no brands. Might be a future treat for car.

Seat bolsters etc in great condition, anyone know if top tips to clean silver seat belts?

Thanks for not bidding against me, had bid 1072 and expected to lose out by a wide margin! Was my girlfriends idea to bid as she wanted to keep me from pouring petrol and money into an RX8 purchase!

Looks like fun. Makes it seem daft paying £10k for used hot hatch fun.

Pull seat belt fully out.

Place seat belt outside of the car.

Close car door on said seat belt.

Jet wash it. Works a treat.
