I never had chance to do a final cut on the front lawn this year.

Is it too late now

if not late is it OK to do a cut whilst the grass and earth is wet

If its is too late is there anything I can do to minimise damage next year?

thanks

It might be warm enough but, if you do cut it, just top it and leave as much on as possible.

Just have to watch for a sudden cold snap and possible frost damage.

I'd only cut if dry personally.

Never had a problem with short grass through the winter.
Just cut mine last weekend, will probably give it another cut before the years out, if reasonably dry.
If it needs it, do it.

If the daytime temperature is over 5 degrees centigrade - the grass will grow, so it will need cutting.

Never mow wet or frosty grass, as this can damage the turf and compact the soil. Wait until later in the day when the lawn has dried out or defrosted, or postpone mowing to another day.

Wet grass clogs my lawnmower anyway. Even when the weather is dry I find the overnight dew collects on the grass and makes it difficult to cut until the afternoon.

If it's with a big heavy petrol roller mower then I'd exercise caution. If its with a light plastic electric mower, carry on. Its grass not a Faberge egg!

Reminds me of Alan Titchmarsh interviewing a Scottish gardener, who having told Titchmarsh he mowed his lawn every day of the year, Titchmarsh asked how he managed in the winter, with the gardener replying "I wear a coat".

Fine to mow given the wx.

Make sure that the blade is as sharp as possible.

My new lawn is on very wet clay.

The lawn is still growing strongly.

For the first time I have experienced significant loss of traction in a mower. laugh
