A massive Wedge thank you to EC
Discussion
Hi Peeps...I have been thinking...In case you were wondering what the noise was....Seeing as we won't be at the chase for the fest this year I've been thinking maybe it would be fitting if we sent the current events staff & Manager a massive Wedge thank you.
I did think at first about a card and some flowers but thought something a bit more permanent ..So what about an A4 framed picture of a Wedge with a little worded plaque saying thank you from all Wedge owners...Now then who's Wedge do we have to represent us????.....
My personal choice would be to have a Wedge from the first organisers as that would be in keeping....What say you my friends....
Cheers

I am always in favour of rewarding someone for a job well done, but in this instance I think the opposite would prevail.
A. The Wedge community are the customers, so they should be the ones rewarded by EC.
B. I believe EC did get paid for doing their job though not always quite to requirements.
C. It would be like rubbing salt in the wound for EC I would have thought, as it's being held elsewhere this year.
Just my opinion.

Not sure where that came from mate...Its merely to say thank you for them putting up with rolling roads..Car valets..Burnouts...Decibel challenges..And drinking until 4.30am?...Also for the help they gave me lugging stuff about the last couple of years...Why does it always have to be about money..FFS...This is what peeves me off about certain individuals and there small mindedness...So you want them to be thankful for putting up with us...??A. Im sorry but i can't help being a nice person it was the way i was brought up, If i feel someone deserves a pat on the back then i will give it, If they deserve to be told to ...Well you know the rest.
What is the problem?????
Its less than £10 but means so much more and reflects on us for the future of the BBWF even when I'm dead and buried!!!...
Is this really your opinion?...Doesn't strike me as something you would say?....More like the "Wicker man"...Never been much of a fan of "Effigies"....

I also have built up a good rapport with EC and I'm sure they would not see it as rubbing salt in wounds?...Quite the opposite in fact....Its called "A Gesture of goodwill"...
Mark, you are a nice person and I know that you want to please people and that it is not possible to please everyone. This hasn't come from anywhere Mark so please don't blame others. You asked for our opinion and my personal opinion is as above. Last year you were complaining that the car park space was not marked out properly and given to others outside the wedge festival and various other complaints etc. etc. All I'm saying is that EC did their job and got paid for it. If you want to reward them, that's up to you. It is not a money issue, just a matter of principal. Others may see if different and if they do, then they should give their view just like I did. I have no power over what happens and I don't want to have. I am just a wedge owner and enthusiast giving my opinion. You are the organiser mate so you decide!!!
ps. 'I don't want them to be thankful for putting up with us', I want them to be thankful for giving them our custom, the putting up part is a part of the package I would have thought.

Thats just it mate...Yes I'm the organiser but its what the majority want..Not what i want...I put ideas forward and if people don't like them then they won't happen, After all its everyones money in the pot!!...
I guess everyone sees things differently...I have been to 6 Wedgefest's in a row now at Ettington and i have loved every one of them..Its a great venue and yes they have made mistakes...In fact i remember at previous BBWF's there was other cars in our spot but the event still went ahead and everyone enjoyed it.
For me its about keeping the flow of positive energy...We may want to go back to the chase at some point..So i want them to feel that its been a pleasurable experience and that we appreciate them as much as they do us..
However saying this its something i do naturally and i have NEVER done anything to gain so called brownie points like i have been accused of in the pas, Everything i do is genuine and from the heart, If people cannot see that then that is their problem, Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion but sometimes theres too much negativity which gets my back up...Sorry...
The last two years the event has nearly been compromised by people who know nothing about me as a person and were reacting on vicious rumours from sad jealous individuals who no-one actually likes..
However these attempts were futile as the truth prevailed...Im not a religious man although somewhat spiritual and believe its all about karma....
If at any time people are not happy with the way i organise the fest then they can vote me out and someone else in like they did with the previous organiser...Although if it happened to be for the same reasons i would hang up my TVR keys up and walk away with my head held in shame...I wouldn't even look at another TVR ever again...

Mark, I think that would be a very nice gesture. Of course, it's been a commercial arrangement, but I think the events that I've attended have been very successful, I'm sure in part down to EC. I also think that it's a good way to part, and who knows, if we ever want to go back , they may remember us in a positive way. Go for it.

Mark, the good will gesture gets my vote too. EC is a good venue and other TVR groups may also use it in the future. The two BBWF's I've attended were both great, good hotel facilities, tidy rooms, helpful staff and good food. We never know when we may decide to head back there so a thank you I think reflects well on us Wedge owners and hopefully all TVR owners in general.
Cheers. Keith

I don't think it would be rubbing salt in because it was actually EC who were full this year (AFAIK) and I'm sure if a good slot were available we would probably be back there.
In terms of naming individuals please mention Oliver who was our floor manager for most of these years and in general made things run fairly smoothly, and got us free teas and coffees we could sell in the car park.
I personally think a nice printed thank you on some heavy vellum-style printer paper would be fine. You can keep the extra sheets for "Wedge Prize Certificates" to be awarded later in the year ;^)

Nice gestures are always nice
It is what the receiver(es?) makes of it, but that is up to them.
Steve Heath was there in 2004, so perhaps a purple wedge with a trailer with spare parts
Photo: good idea.
Think a nice row of wedges or
the one with all the white ones that was used with the just got married couple... would get my vote.
Could help EC with their promotion for weddings (wedgings? during BBWF

So ettington got paid for the rooms all wedgers had and food and drink but did they get paid for us to take over the car park? And inconvenience they other guests? I know we at times had cripes about cost of ale and bar snacks but I honestly loved the place. Rooms were good value and I have some of my fondest memories of wedge ownership from wedge fest. It is really easy to move on and forget and it takes no effort to do so, but sometimes it pays to say thank you in a different way and who knows we may want to go back!
So after a bit of a flaky start we have some suggestions...The picture of the white Wedges with the married couple could be good...Its some relevant history on their wall for both Wedges and what the chase do...
There is a link to the club and I'm sure i have seen more than one of those pics...
Bit of history for you...
