Hi

My 2002 Honda Civic 1.4i S needs a new timing belt kit but having very minimal mechanical knowledge I do not no which one to buy.

On Mister Auto the following Timing Belt Kits are listed:

Dayco £58.15
Blue Print: £63.68
Herth Buss £78.96
Febi Bilstein £83.51
SKF £88.81
Contitech £93.06
Gates £94.12

I want to keep my costs as low as possible (whilst still using quality parts) as my Honda is only worth £500 and has 93000 miles on it.

Many thanks in advance!!

Gates erey day, might cost £30 more but will save you the £500 value of the car if it goes wrong. I will only ever fit Gates, almost every manufacturer has them fitted from new.

Dayco is top quality so surprised it's the cheapest, make sure the kit contains the same amount of parts as the others.
I'd use the Dayco.

Gates, SKF or Febi are OK, wouldn't touch any of the others personally. (due to having no experience with them rather than negative experience)

I've had no issues with Contintal belts either. However OP, if you have minimal mechanical knowledge are you going to this this fitted by a local garage? If so be aware that they may refuse to warranty the job if using non-genuine parts supplied by the customer.

Vote for Gates here, especially if you haven't done lots of timing belts before.

We are using Dayco kits at the moment and the quality is fine but the belts are an absolute can't to get on for some reason !

Continental, SKF or Gates for me. I've used conti belts before without issue, and SKF/Gates are both OEM suppliers.
