So. Long story short is that we have some exposed stone work in our house. One of these areas is the stairs and underneath the stairs. The stone floor and wall are very dirty and would like to try and clean them up a bit. What would be the best way to do this?
I bought a wire brush but I'm not sure if I should use it.

Water, bleach, scrubbing brush? Usually seems to work. Wire brush might be too aggressive but would depend on the stone and what needs cleaning off.

One of the Lithofin range should work http://www.lithofin.co.nz/en-NZ/__p/MN-for-Natural... Probably Power Clean.

Somebody suggested the finest grade of wire wool to clean off limescale from my granite worktop - worked a treat.

Like all these things, try a small out of sight patch first and think about sealing the surface afterwards.
