Greetings gents,
just wondering what the easiest front brake upgrade for my 93 chim is? I have the oz vega rims which are 15" front, 16" rear. Have bog standard 240mm discs on there at the moment & with the engine tune up im having id feel abit safer with beefier brakes.
Is it worth keeping the calipers & just upping the disc size or is the right way to just go for different calipers enabling 278mm discs maybe?

thanks
Steve

Exactly the same options as for the S.

The OEM look them Fiesta mk6 (I think) 2.0 ST front brakes are direct fit bolt size and overall dims. You'll need a space to fix the calliper in the right place. 278mm discs.

This is my 300mm front brake conversion that is relatively inexpensive - you will need wheel spacers, 3mm is enough but I finally went for 5mm. There is reference to the 278mm upgrade by mk1fan in the thread - you wont need wheel spacers.

Take the 278mm with 55mm height doesn't exist in 4 hole discs?

I'm a Cerb owner but Eric (900T-R) has a real modded Chim. He runs the cerbera AP CP5200s on his (he took mine when I upgraded) with some 304x30 2 piece discs (also my old ones) not sure what the mod was to get it to fit may just have been uprights? That setup was great on the Cerb... Sorry to invade but I hope that info may be of use.

The solution over in the S enclosure was to take a set of 283mm Sierra Cosworth discs and get them machined down to 278mm.

Thanks for all the replys gents, initially i went with just 260mm discs & braided brake lines (same setup i got on my 'S') but i was a lil worried about tuning up the chim up & the brakes weren't beefy enough..
Got the fiesta st mk6 calipers off ebay but will have to get some 283mm sierra discs machined down which is abit of a ballache as i dont know anywhere & concerned my braided brake lines from act may not be the same end fittings as the fiesta calipers? rolleyes
Sooo if anyones after some st calipers laugh..

The Sierra Cosworth 4x4 discs are 278mm and have the right bolt pattern but are only 36mm height (

There is a brake wiki in the S forum with part numbers. The 2WD Cosworth discs are 283mm and 55mm high. Turning them downis relatively easy for a machine shop. An engineering firm that refurbs heads should be able to help and pretty common.

No more hassle than making up a spacer and keeps the calliper away from the wheel face.

There's loads of room with my 4 pot Brembos and 283's under 16's but they won't fit under 15's which I think is what the OP is wanting to do though...
