Strap change has me not selling my Rolex.
Discussion
Since I purchased my GMT master II it just hasn't really done it for me.
I started to compare it unfavourably to my seamaster GMT , which is quite a bit older.
Kind of stopped wearing it, except for the odd wedding.
I was going to bring in back to UK with me amd sell it.
Had a good think about this the other evening and realised it's not the watch but the bracelet.
Thinking it through...the taper from 20mm at the head to what must be 16mm at the clasp just seems too much. The clasp -whilst I like the little half link adjustment - is huge; sticks out too much and almost dwarfs the watch head - making it look unbalanced on the wrist.
In addition the clasp with polished centre is a magnet for scratches.
So I grabbed my trusty spring bar tool and a new Perlon I had bought for another watch.
Two minutes later and I'm very happy! No need to sell the watch now, looks balanced on the wrist, very comfy etc.
Just ordered a dark green (to match the GMT hand) and a black one as well.

I love Perlon straps - can I ask where you got yours from?
The last lot I got from watch obsession were not as nice as previous ones.
Hi, it's an EULIT one. Ordered it out here but there do seem to be quite a few UK suppliers. The last lot I got from watch obsession were not as nice as previous ones.
The dark green one on order is this:

Hope that helps!

Was thinking about a Rubber B or similar.
Perlon works for now and I could get five colours for the price of one Rubber B or Everest!
As you don't seem too bothered about the gap between strap and case don't rule our a Hirsch Pure rubber strap.Perlon works for now and I could get five colours for the price of one Rubber B or Everest!
I've had one on my Submariner for ages and find it works very well. Comes at a fraction of the price of Rubber B.

I quite like that although I think I'd prefer a rubber strap myself.

Nice!
I allways go back to the stainless bracelet after a while. The Ceramic Gmt is a chunky bracelet , the older alloy bezels have a nice bracelet.
It's also the radical taper that doesn't work for me somehow.I allways go back to the stainless bracelet after a while. The Ceramic Gmt is a chunky bracelet , the older alloy bezels have a nice bracelet.
My growing dislike of the watch was all down to the bracelet in the end.
I think I'm also just more likely to wear it now as it looks a lot less 'flash'. Also it's safer now in the sea!
I was quite surprised though to see how unfinished the case is between the lugs. Compares very unfavourably to much cheaper watches in my collection.

Not that much gap. In fact it's a tight squeeze with the perlon.. had to poke the end through and then use a precision tool (okay my teeth) to drag it all the way. It certainly won't be sliding around!I've had one on my Submariner for ages and find it works very well. Comes at a fraction of the price of Rubber B.

Just a follow up on this thread from a few months back.
Lucky chap that I am; had the Everest rubber as a Christmas present from my parents.
Really suits the watch. I'm definitely keeping it now. The bracelet can live out its days in the box!
Hey that looks brilliant!! Did you fit it yourself, is it easy to do? Any more pics?Lucky chap that I am; had the Everest rubber as a Christmas present from my parents.

This might be just what I was looking for for going out on the boats and down by the beach.
