Opinion on this UPVC window & door install?
Discussion
Nearing the end of a long and slightly painful garage rebuild after a fire. Had the window company come and measure up a few weeks ago and they installed this yesterday, unfortunately I wasn't there because I was working.
Not entirely happy with the result, given this was a made to measure solution. Just wanted to get some independent opinions before I go back them.
For clarity, my builder cut the wall, they came and measured, then fitted.

Is it the lens or are the sides and top curved?
Were you expecting a window above the door?
The window above the door is my issue. It wasn't discussed and makes the whole thing look odd to me. I had hoped the glass in the door would have been level with the glass in the windows, but it looks like the door has dropped own from a distance. Perhaps I was expecting too much, but why couldn't the door just extend to the top? Were you expecting a window above the door?
As a made to measure solution, I would not expect the crappy space-filler window above the door and therefore that the glass in the door would be the same height as the window's glass so it all matches.
This install looks more like its been done using second hand stuff off Gumtree.
ETA - cross posted with OP but you're of the same mind as me!

Most plastic doors come as standard sizes and you fill in as required either with plastic trims or make down with wood/render/block etc.
Your builder has cut a hole without checking the sizes of the doors available, the window man has done his best with what he had.
Made to measure/bepsoke are available but would of cost you a lot more than that one did!
The biggest question will be what was asked/specced and what was agreed on the estinate.
For a garage it wouldnt bother me, for a house i couldnt live with it - i would probably drop the whole head of window and door. Easy if externally rendered, not so if bricked

Agree with the above, I believe the issue starts and stops with the builder, I think the hole isn't within the sphere of pvc door sizes.
Whilst it's made to fit, there's limits on what they can make them in. I've only installed 5/6 pvc doors on a diy basis, although none of them taller than 2250mm including frame.

Agree it doesn't look the best I don't know why they had the fan light above the door pvc doors are made to measure surely they could have just had a slightly taller door made? Did you ok the design? Is want it changed
The only thing you could perhaps do is to replace the glass with a a white pvc panel cut from the same stuff as used in the lower part of the door that might improve the look a bit

Why is the hinges on the outside?
Because the door opens outward? From the outside it just looks all wrong.
ETA: WHat looks wrong about the hinges is that they SHOULD be hanging from the right hand side, the brickwork. Hanging them from the left means the weight of the door is on that window frame, not sure if it's technically strong enough to support the door weight over time, but it doesn't look correct!

So to add a little more to this - The original plan was to not have a door at all, so the build was done to accommodate only windows on that side, but I decided at the last minute that a door would be worth adding. I guess this meant that the upper height was already set and my builder cut out the lower section to house the door. Having said that, the full height from top to bottom was 2300mm so I don't know if that causes a problem for door choices or something, but I just don't see what purpose the window in the frame at the top serves, other than to make it look a bit st.
A door of that style can be made any height (within reason) It could have had a larger glazed panel or larger lower panel, I can't understand why it has the top light, more work and more expensive.
However If there are no plans and it was a last minute change of mind I doubt you have much comeback, it may not be what you expected but at the same time it's not wrong, just a bit odd
