Along the side of my back garden there is a block pave driveway which used to lead to the garage (now a studio / office), so no need for the driveway.

I was thinking about putting a big paddling / swimming pool type thing on there in summer for the kids to enjoy.

Only problem is that the driveway slopes down, reasonably gently but still way too much for a pool to sit on top of. So my question is if there is any relatively easy DIY solution to create a flat area on top of the block paving that I could use as the base to put this pool on top of?

Thanks for any advice.

How about maybe another section of decking that can be accurately levelled for the pool to sit on?

Choose a section to level, rectangular in plan view and leave a path to the side. Remove the blocks and install four railway sleepers, level, around the perimeter and relay the blocks, level, on some grit sand within that enclosure.

Those would be good more permanent ideas, though I was wondering if there is anything at least semi temporary I can just lay down to use for the summer, then after summer revert to as is?

Not sure if there is anything suitable to achieve that, but any ideas would be great.

Council is a trampoline in the front garden (the trampoline in the form of a bouncy mattress).

Put some boards with a tapered profile around the edge with a level top surface, fill with sand.

The tapered decking idea seems to fit the bill perfectly...

Tapered boards idea, that sounds good. So in essence... buy some boards and cut at an angle to match the gradient of the slope? Then fill with sand to be level, paddling pool on top, happy kids?

Of course the shallow end idea could work too! Failing that could turn the whole drive into a slip n slide

That was my thought too, it could be made up in pallet size sections so easy to move.

Has to be the best, fastest and easiest DIY suggestion

My thinking entirely - does't look that much of a slope, I bet not more than 6" down at one end?
You would spend a lot of time, energy & perhaps money.....or just deploy a pool!!

I expect big paddling pools / swimming pools also qualify for Council status.

Personally we have 12ft trampoline in the back garden and will probably also be installing a big pool this summer. Anything to wear my kids out / keep them from pestering me smile Therefore for now I'll embrace Council biggrin

I did this on the house I bought in France in 2005. It was a really sloping site, and I had 50 tons of sand delivered to make it level. Low end was built up abut four feet and the pool went on top. Locals in the village were taking bets as to how long before the whole shebang slid down the hill. After a year I had it all dug out and a proper in ground pool put in.
