Garage Lighting
Discussion
After some advice about lighting my garage. I've done a very rough sketch below. The main door is at the bottom of the screen with pedestrian doors to the house and garden at the top. The dog leg at the top is part of the same space although the is a lintel across it. It will house my mill and lathe, so I want decent light there.
I was thinking of using these fitting from Costco, at 3700 lumens per fitting:
batten lights
Will 8 of thee be enough, I was planning on two in the 'machine shop' and the other six down either side of the main space. It's an internal garage so has a ceiling at 2.5m, it and the walls are painted white, and I plan to have a light grey floor.
Thanks for any advice

I've got my workshop very very well lit, I picked up a load of those downlighters that have 2 x 28w energy saving bulbs in them on Gumtree for about £5 each, think they were from a barbers from memory. Anyway, I don't know how they compare to those LEDs, but I've used 8 for each garage space equivalent and it's extremely bright! Bright enough that I keep wondering if I should wire them on two circuit so I can switch some off.
My point is really, if you're budget limited Gumtree is the best way to get the maximum possible light for your budget.

I think I've posted this up before, but this was my choice in my previous garage. I opted for a larger quantity of smaller lights, as the aim of the game was to reduce/remove shadows as that what tends to make working in a workshop difficult for me. But if you can have lots of light and no shadows, then even better. The entire thing was later painted white, which made a huge difference.
Just to add, once white, I used to get asked if I was operating that weekend or taking the day off.... IIRC there's 360W of light in the outer runs and front half, with an additional what ever it was from the 5 x 3' strips recessed into the ceiling in the back half. There's a double 3' over the bench just for good measure, with the lights wired with a front/rear split.

Led panels seem to be popular, and from having seen them in many places like churches and doctors surgeries etc it's what I would be buying. Less than half the price of the costco battens too.
