The Notsoacurate Gatso...

I heard about this a while ago, but didn't know of a site keeping track of the details.
So, for those that are interested, I have attached the URL. I did a quick search to see if this had been covered before and didn't see anything.
EDIT
Seems I missed this off the news section:

Don't forget your supporting statement.
(1) You believe in the empowerment of the customer viz a viz crime reduction.
(2) You have undergone 300 hours of racial awareness training.
(3) You enjoy filling forms in.
(4) You are good at making 1 + 2 = 4
But don't mention .....
(1) You want to catch criminals
(2) You want to stop crime

Nice to know. Pity it will be inside the camera housing.
But just as much fun is section 4.9
So when you ask to see the calibration cert for the camera don't forget to check that the equipment that it was calibrated with has been calibrated too.

Interesting section 7.6.1
7.6.1 General
The speedmeter shall be assessed by comparing its readings with a vehicle fitted with a speed measuring system having an accuracy of at least ±1 mph. Measurements at different speeds up to the maximum stated by the manufacturer shall be made.
Simulated speeds may be used for speeds above 120 mph.
The speedmeter shall give a positive error no larger than + 3 mph (or +3% above 100 mph) and a negative error of no greater than 5 mph or 10 % above 50 mph (see 8.2).
endquote
Hmmmmmm accuracy need not be better than +3/-5mph. That is BEFORE the issues raised by Mr Edgar, very interesting.

This makes VERY interesting, though mildly terrifying reading.
The net result appears to be that one can be effectively blanked, ignored and silenced - even where following (and I'm assuming that he is) the correct legal procedures.
Perhaps it would make more sense for him to drive through a camera in a 30 limit at 40, get the speeding charge re-instated and pursue from there. Rather than attempt to fight an S172 issue which it appears is taking him further and further away from the core case he has built.
Then again I view the whole S172 thing as far more serious... and that is a can of worms opened many many times here so perhaps this isnt the place for me to re-open it.
