DIY rain repellent or self cleaning window coating for home
Discussion
Hi,
I'm having new windows installed at home next week, and considering applying some kind of coating to keep them cleaner for longer.
There seems to be quite a few DIY products that claim to last 3 to 10 years - e.g.

Has anyone had any any long-term experience of these or can recommend one?
Thanks.

I use my car products - a good car glass polish to clean them, then apply something like GTechniq's G5 or EZCare's Gecko. Bit cheaper, and works great. Water just rolls off the windows. I've used GTechniq's G5 all over the place, including shower screens. The 100ml bottle goes a long way.
Thanks for the replies.
I started my thinking with car products - but then thought there may be something better for the job?
I've used G1 and Rainex in the past on cars, and have not been that impressed with the performance of G1, and found Rainex not to last...
Pure water cleaning is, I believe, just that. De-ionised water is used so that there are no water marks left behind, but I don't think it helps with keeping them clean.
