concrete mould for patio/path

Has anyone any experience of using a concrete mould for doing a patio and or paths. I've got rats under my decking, its rotten anyway so it's getting ripped up, I don't have a lot of time and don't want to spend big mo ey on getting some one in. Does something like the pic below actually look half decent when finished to a reasonable diy standard?

My brother tried it. Skimped on the base. Whole lot cracked and moved. Re-did it with 4" of compacted type one and it's fine.

Cheers, 4inches sounds like a Loy of wheel barrowing buy I guess its better than doing it twice.
