Car bumped whilst parked
Discussion
I had a similar incident, however the person came and knocked on my door fortunately.
To have a new rear bumper sprayed to colour and one new rear light fitting, on a 981 Cayman, cost the insurance company £1600~ a couple of years ago. About £400~ was the light fitting I believe.
Not the same body panels, but hopefully that gives a little bit of insight.

Not nice at all when no one owns up :-(
That front blinker unit is about £40 the last time I bought one. Then the wing will need to be straightened, filled a touch and resprayed and then blended no doubt into the bonnet, bumper and door. It's got to be £1000 worth of paint, but best to take it to a bodyshop for a quote I guess.
Good luck getting it sorted.

My 996 was bumped last year when parked at the roadside, with no note and rear n/s bumper and rear n/s wing dented and scratched. £1,000 plus quotes from Porsche repairers and superb job from local garage in Shirley, Croydon and their bodyshop guy for c£500. People who bump and dent and scratch a car and don't leave a note are tow-rags.

Are they lining the wheel arch with gold, or just lining their own pockets?
If people keep paying, they will keep charging. I would guess both of the M&A examples are twice what they should cost.johnwilliams77 said:
My car got hit last week. Bumper, wing and alloy. 800 quid to replace and of course no note, so its like being robbed of 800 quid. Quite angering to say the last but surprisingly common.

Can happen the other way around too. A car scuffed a colleagues motor at about 2mph in car park while he was sat in it. Sorted out via insurance no problem. Enquired with his insurer why his renewal quote had doubled a few months later. "Massive cost of your claim" was the reply. Turns out all four occupants of the car that hit him had successfully claimed £££'s of whiplash injuries. neilf said:

That's quite hard to believe. My friend was recently in a collision where someone ran into the back of him and he suffered lots of neck pain. The amount of evidence required from police reports and physio/dr was significant for any claim.Chris944 said:

Hi Chris,Please can you provide detail of the chap in Shirley.
Cheers
Sunil
If I was doing this privately, I would look at one of the "dents away" type franchises for the metalwork and/or "chips away" for the paint. Then a new light fitting and job done. Probably come in under £500 but still not nice of the other driver.
Insurance wise, depends how many years NCB and whether it is protected.

Thanks guys. I'm based in Surbiton so Slough is reasonably close, I'll try the 911V guys.
Hi,If you are in Surbition then drop in on Vanleigh in East Molesey and talk to Ron or Leigh a father and son team.
Vanleigh are an old school Coachwork company with an immense knowledge base and skill set. Leigh's colour matching and finish is incredible!! Ron's welding, bodywork fabrication and attention to detail is unbelievable.
They love cars and love what they do for a living, this is so evident in the delivery of the end product.....and even better they deliver when they say they are going to deliver, no excuses..... Just a joy to deal with....
