i have historically used TD Waterhouse for my personal trading, but i havent paid much attention recently so am doing very low volumes a month (under 10) and they are increasingly of small value.

Whats other peoples experience in low volume/value online brokers value for money and ease of use?

I think so much of it comes down to the platform you like using

I know a lot of people swear by the Interactive platform, but for some reason I've never liked it - despite it having to widest range of products
I personally prefer the Saxo platform as it incorporates all markets/futures/multi-currency etc

But if you are only doing vanilla UK shares there are probably better options

How do you guy get access to TD?!? As a UK citizen, it is impossible because you need a US tax number.

I am using Interactive Brokers for now. But I like TD's Think Or Swim.

btw I would avoid Interactive Investor if possible
If anything goes wrong you will be waiting 45 minutes on hold to talk to anyone and my read of the situation is that they simply aren't setup for the overseas trading they have taken on from TD
I have an on going issue with a currency transaction which has taken weeks to resolve

just had that experience today , although they did answer in 5 mins or so. Shares bought years ago on foreign exchanges, now unsupported by ii, and cant trade online.

I do use Lloyds mostly, do most of my banking with them for the last 30 years, just convenient. They are using the old halifax share platform. Its ok for most things and being developed all the time.

The Monevator website has a good interactive comparative tool, where you input your investing intentions and it tells you which broker/platfom is the cheapest. It covers over 20 platforms:
