Hi all,

Quick question, the bar in this picture, is it likely to be black painted wood, or something more complicated?

If it is paint, what sort of paint could it be?

I have a combination of generic softwood and plywood to paint. Thank you!

Think it might be blue painted wood.

Blue/black no matter, it looks like an original Edwardian wooden bar which has been painted.

I don't suppose the the paint will be anything special, just reasonably hardwiring and not too expensive.

Try an oil based paint from Leyland.... maybe in an eggshell finish.

Doesn't look to be black if you compare it to the actual blackboards in the picture.

It looks very much like Farrow and Ball ‘Railings’. Nice colour.

Was just about to say the same thing - we've got our shop front painted in the same colour.

Looks like a kind of dark blue grey colour, like anthracite Ral 7016. But yes, fancy people tend to go with Little Greene, Farrow & Ball and Zoffany paints don't they!

Yep, Little Green, Farrow and Ball, Zoffany... all favoured by those ladies that lunch... all terrible quality these days.

Nothing wrong with choosing an F&B colour and having it matched with something like Crown Clean Extreme, though. That being said, I still buy the F&B eggshell as I personally really like the finish - as long as you work fast and don’t let it drag.

I thought the same initially, until we were sent samples of RAL 7016 and compared it to the F&B colour. Even to my mildly colourblind eyes there's quite a difference in shade/colour.

Like Crumpet says, for the external paint, we just went to the local Crown Decorators Centre and got it colour matched.
