My windows constantly get really bad and have broken a few motors, I think it's largely due to where I have to park under a tree.

A couple of questions .... I know you can use silicon spray to ease them up, every video I've watched they spray down the vertical channels but not along the horizontal that the window slides down over .... this is one of the worst bits on my car and it gets really caught to the extent the seal doubles over on itself when I put the window down and I'm sure this is what kills the motor.

Is there a reason none of them seem to put a line along the horizontal seal as well ??

Also if I'm going to try and clean the seals before using the spray what's the best thing to do it with just some water and washing up liquid or something like isopropyl alcohol or vinegar .... not sure if any of them may damage the seals over time??

The seal shouldn't be sticking to the glass like that. It makes me wonder whether the seal has perished, or been damaged by oil contamination.

If it makes any difference it's OK in the winter, it really happens when it's hot in the summer and when it's been in for a service and the guys had used silicone spray (but I don't know where they've put it) it's been absolutely fine but doesn't last that long so I thought it's something I could easily do to prevent unnecessary cost.

Some greases make rubber swell. Also depending on the age of the vehicle the window regulators may be seizing up. That will necessitate removing the door card and plastic waterproof sheet, that will be glued in place to the door, covering the gaps in the door pressing.

Make sure that the drain holes in the door bottoms are clear and put the plastic sheet back, sealed to the door, otherwise the footwells will flood when it chucks it down.
