I'm replacing this today. Currently there doesn't appear to be one of the triangular clips on the column which engages with the little tags on the bush

These are the new parts...

Is there a triangular clip on your steering column?

Thanks thumbup

Do you mean the clip 1650936, or do you think there should be something else there?

Set up in the donor car, Ford Sierra, looks a little different...............

As I understand it with the way TVR use the bits that clip (or "special washer" as Ford call it) goes on the engine bay side of things to stop the plastic thing (seal is Ford's term) sliding down?

Nope!

Wonder if it's important?

Mine was engine bay side (S3). Progressing with full resto so haven't quite fitted the new alloy housing & bearing yet.

Thanks All.

Back together now. I couldn't see that how that washer would have performed any useful prose and as there wasn't one on there originally I've not bothered to fit it.

Test drive later, we're fixing an 'M' door hinge now thumbup

The old bearing was a bit "gritty" and this is what I have in there now...

Alloy housing with threaded holes making fitting a one man job. Stainless screws and nuts. This is similar in design to the one shown on the link above but with an alloy plate on the bulkhead side to add support and stop some of the crud getting in.

Mine has the triangular clip, but it is on the engine side of the bulkhead to stop the triangular plastic bush from sliding down the triangular section of the column and out of the bearing..

On mine the bush goes into the bearing from the foot-well side so it can't slide out. I think this is how the parts were fitted in the Sierra so maybe yours is upside down? I can't see how fitting one way or the other would make any difference in practice though.

Hi.
I have fitted mine now, and like you made & fitted a disc plate engine side. The new plastic insert 'top-hat' being foot well side. I have cut the old insert in half, pushed that up the triangular bar (engine side) just into the disc plate. This stops the crud better, as it is a round insert turning in a round hole, rather than the triangle bar turning in the round hole. That old half insert held in place by the Ford clip.
