The deal is done. I've just purchased the cheapest Impreza Hawkeye in the country with 143k miles on the clock, blind, from Scotland.

Some of you may remember the last time I purchased a car blind from Scotland. That didn't go too well. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I said I'd never do that again, but I lied to myself. I hate myself.

Car seems to have good history, but the bodywork is a bit crusty in places.....will I ever learn?!

It's being collected by Shipley on Thursday I think. Guess it might arrive early next week?

What an idiot laugh

I predict knocking rear shocks

Then slight annoyance at the faf/price to swap

But then mainly smiles.

Fingers crossed it’s better than the last Scottish purchase !

You didn't read my reply to your thread in the Subaru subsection then hehe

I still miss mine, mind. I hope it works out for you wink

ETA: rear shocks can be sorted for way less £££ than Subaru ask - go for KYB replacements. No issues with mine for 40-odd thousand miles and were still fine when I sold it.

Don't know why you'd be laughing, you're the one welding if it's needed!

High praise indeed, and it's what I keep reading.

Hopefully making its way from Glasgow to Southampton in the next few days when I actually get to drive one for the first time...

You should have said, I would have given you a go in my blobeye - the older, uglier sibling. It's even for sale as well laugh

What happened to the Volvo?

I had seen yours for sale and had seriously considered giving you a shout, but this one kept nagging at me. If I'd not nabbed this one I was going to drop you a message. How has your ownership been? I've just now found your thread...

Nothing happened with the Volvo, just need a little more...excitement. Volvo is now on eBay if interested boxedin

It's been a decent car but, apart from an awesome few days driving in the snow, I've never really bonded with it. It's surprisingly comfortable, practical, mostly reliable, easy to work on, grippy, quick when you needed etc but driving it everyday I grew tiresome of the lack of low down grunt - you need the turbo spool'd up in order to make progress. I know a remap is suppose to help, but I decided I didn't want to start spending a load of money on the daily driver and therefore it needed to go.

So I bought a Volvo V50 T5 instead biggrinlaugh

Interesting comments, the low down grunt is the main reason I was keen on the later 2.5 engine over the 2.0. Everything I read points to it making a better daily driver. We shall see.

Notice your MOT is from Williams Street, do you work locally then? I can see them out the window.

Yeah that's a good point on the 2.5. As usual I just bought mine on impulse with little research as it's the first one that came up!

I used to work on Empress Road and took my cars round there after they were recommended back when I had the Chimaera. I'm in Eastleigh now but still try and use them as they always did a good job.
