White left turn arrow on the floor but went ahead
Discussion
Sat at some traffic lights, 2 lanes one for straight ahead and one for turn left the only indication to turn left was a painted left turn arrow on the floor but I failed to notice this as a vehicle was covering it and it was my misses who said I should of turned left as she knows the area? So I obviously went straight ahead? Is it just a case of getting caught by a patrol car? As people will see from my other post I make stupid mistakes and I’m quite paranoid when it comes to points on my licence, I’m going to let the misses drive for abit so I can have a break hahah
I would not fret about a one-off. If you habitually do that to steal a march on others, that may catch you in the end.
There are plenty of roundabouts and junctions where other cars obscure the road markings, and you get in the wrong lane. Most people indicate and move cautiously, and most people (not all) let you in. If you are in the wrong position on the road through a misunderstanding/unfamiliarity, then as long as you ‘drive with due care and attention’ and ‘drive with due consideration for other road users’ there should be no issue.

I don’t do it to get ahead of anyone as I’ve realised In the past when people have done it to me I’ll be behind them again at the next set of lights it was a general mistake, the arrow was covered by the car in front of me but I will admit to being abit to close so when we pulled off I never saw it There are plenty of roundabouts and junctions where other cars obscure the road markings, and you get in the wrong lane. If you didn't inconvenience anyone or contravene a filter light then it's not a specific offence. Even if you did, then it's unlikely any pain is coming your way after the event. If in doubt, discretion is often the better part of valor. Sometimes it's better to go left and sort it out, or go around the roundabout again. Graveworm said:

The lights had no signs to turn left and it wasn’t a roundabout just ahead and left turn, no right turn on the right Jordy12397 said:

Like I said it was covered by another car, can’t see through metal pal "Did I get caught speeding by a Highways England van ?"
Not even sure it was a HE van.
