Looking at getting a Dremel to add to my collection, but looking at alternatives that are significantly cheaper from for example Sealey but with good reviews? Are they any good? Would you just buy the Dremel?

I bought a Proxxon professional IBS as an alternative and have had no probs. The kit comes with different sized collets which is useful. Can get various accessories too.

Shop around for best price though.

Look for something that comes with the flexible drive.
I've got a Dremel & the flexi has allowed me access to stuff that just wasn't accessible without it

Are any of these good for home dentistry?

I was hoping for a bundle deal with a mallet (anaesthetic) and a pair of pliers (extraction).

Yeah I imagine with the sanding discs in the kits there's a lucrative market for teeth whitening too!

Haha. I have actually used mine on home visits to adjust false teeth. So,yes they are good for home dentistry. I keep lookin out for a root canal attachment to broaden my domicilary capabilities.
