was doing some maintenance checks tyres/oil etc... decided to jack up the car and test for any play after a few bumpy drives.

I never noticed any play holding at 12/6 or 9/3 positions however when I rolled the wheel to check for any brake sticking as I had recently had both front calipers sticking I noticed every half sometimes full turn there was a clicking/knocking noise just one click per turn.

I then tried quickly rolling it back and forth very quickly like you would scratch a record motion and the click/knock happened constantly, this can be heard from both front wheels although im not sure if it's just somewhere connecting both wheels or both wheels have the same thing going on.

I decided to try and get under the car while doing it and the noise sounded quite close, there is what I can describe as a toblerone looking cone with ripples made of rubber that I think the noise was coming from.

is this a normal noise or something I should get looked at ? only had the car in last week for its service so im sure they would have picked up on it, unless they lifted the car with its full weight and the wheels weren't hanging.

cheers

CV (constant velocity joint) they wear out and can 'click' do you get a noise when on full lock and driving slowly?

Don't worry about it. There are various bits of metal in the bearings and CV joints that will eventually wear to produce a slight backlash and may click when that backlash is taken up. If there's a problem with any of them, either you'll notice noise and vibration while driving or your mechanic will pick it up during routine servicing.

ive never noticed any noise on full lock and the only noise at slow speeds is when going over speed bumps it cant be heard all the time, but sometimes its louder and more apparent than other times.

By the looks of a google image search after typing cv joint it would be the outer one and trying to look closer ( hard as covered by a tray there seems to be a white almost cog like part near it, looks to be made of plastic but could be wrong that turns/clicks that would match the noise.

So it isn't something that would cause any issues with handling etc ?and best just leave it till the mechanic picks up on it then as its a non issue really. ?

Yes, safe to ignore. Probably nothing at all wrong, but if there is some problem the symptoms will eventually get more obvious until you are in no doubt about it.
